Unsure what to book - or why manicures are so complicated?
Well, there’s three main things we look at once your nail goals have been determined. Length, shape and structure of your natural nail AND your desired outcome (short term and long term).
What we’re able to achieve in one appointment may not be your ultimate goal, but that’s because it takes time for your nails to grow. If your starting point is bitten nails, or damaged nails with onycholysis, you won’t have beautifully strong nails after the first treatment.
Some treatments are only suitable for certain nail lengths, shapes and structures, and some treatments are impossible for certain nail types too!
To help you figure out what may work best for your nails, have a look at the drop downs and see if they help!

Your natural nail length and shape will determine which treatments are suitable for you. It will also determine what length is safe for you to go to if you decide you want extensions.
Ideally, your nail beds should almost reach your fingertips, but if you bite your nails or have experienced nail plate damage you might notice your nail beds stop further down making your nails appear short. With commitment, your nail beds can lengthen - towards your fingertips AND towards your knuckle! This lengthening in both directions creates long, strong natural nail beds for your enhancements to adhere to.

Natural nail shape can determine your immediate results, much like length. However, it’s only really a considerable factor in extreme cases i.e. missing side walls which have been over-filed to create inappropriate nail shapes (short almonds).
The general rule of thumb is the shorter the nail the squarer is must become. This means if you want short nails are you limited to fewer shape options (square, squoval, round and in some cases oval); however the longer the nail the more options become available to you. Options such as almond, stiletto etc.

Structure is, for me, the most important consideration for the suitability of nail enhancements for each individual client.
I am looking at your side walls to determine if they can carry the weight required for your desired set. I’m looking at whether your nails are trapezoidal, downward growing, upward growing, crooked etc as these factors all contribute to whether your nails will last.
These can be corrected with the correct manicure service.
